Economic development





Three examples of our economic development work are given below.






Tradelink. Renewal Associates won the contract to develop, then run, Tradelink
for establishment period. Tradelink was a service which connected large firms
and public bodies buyers to local suppliers not previously connected to the big
buyer network. In eighteen months £3m worth of orders which would have been
lost to Merseyside were retained in the county, safeguarding hundreds of jobs.


Business development fund. Examination of the demand for a business
development fund for new start and small businesses arising from the
communities in Moss Side and Hulme Manchester, considering the gaps in the 
funding provision, management mechanism, terms of provision and identification
of potential sponsors.


Business Association. Evaluation of a publicly-funded Business Association in
Liverpool which was failing to meet targets, resulting in a report proposing its
closure. More positively Renewal Associates provided recommendations about
how to best serve its intended beneficiary businesses.
